When children engage with their environment, they see changes. They wonder, they ask questions, and they develop working theories. This sense of wonder and engagement can spark inquiries and cross-curricular learning, and develop into a centre-wide project.
Jacqui Lee and her teaching team at Pakuranga Baptist Kindergarten discuss one of their latest projects, entitled ‘Nature Man’. This project developed through open discussion of children’s working theories about what they had observed in their local environment. It led to meaningful engagement with their community, and a wealth of inspirational cross-curricular exploration.
