Teaching children to read and write

HomeSchool resourcesLiteracy (primary level)Teaching children to read and write

This webinar explores the theory and practice of teaching children to read and write. Dr Christine Braid (leader of Literacy@Massey), an expert in early literacy, shares her vast knowledge and expertise around the processes involved in learning to read and write and what this means for teachers’ classroom practice.

We also discuss a new resource from The Education Hub, which Christine has co-developed, in which we have worked with five primary schools across New Zealand to capture examples of how the principles of effective literacy instruction in early primary school can be enacted in the classroom.

To help you navigate the webinar easily, we have provided a list of the key topics covered in the session, including the time each was discussed.
