Reading in the digital age

COMING UP: 9.00AM SATURDAY NOVEMBER 19 (NZST)

In this webinar, Professor Emerita Naomi Baron of American University will discuss the extensive research from the past decade that has explored the nature and impact of reading digitally. While both print and digital have roles to play in schools, the evidence demonstrates that print continues to be important for sustained, critical reading.

Professor Baron is a former Guggenheim Fellow, Fulbright Fellow, and Visiting Scholar at the Stanford Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. For more than thirty years she has been studying the effects of technology on language, including the ways we speak, read, write, and think. Her latest book is How We Read Now: Strategic Choices for Print, Screen, and Audio (2021).

Please join us for this informative and interactive session. As always, there will be opportunities to ask questions.

A recording of this webinar will be posted on this page after the session. Make sure you’re registered on this website to use the Bookmark function to make it easier to find this page again.
