We are delighted to be able to offer this in-person session with world-renowned educational philosopher Professor Gert Biesta. In this session, Gert will be sharing some of his thinking and research on the relationship between education and democracy and the public role of education, as well as the current positioning of teaching and teachers within society. Gert is also keen to hear from New Zealand teachers during the session, and there will be an opportunity for you to engage in dialogue with him.
Gert Biesta is Professor of Public Education in the Centre for Public Education and Pedagogy, Maynooth University, Ireland, and Professor of Educational Theory and Pedagogy at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh, UK. In January 2023, he started a four-year term as a member of the Education Council of the Netherlands (Onderwijsraad), the advisory body of the Dutch government and parliament on educational matters.
All of the spots for this session have now been taken. However, if you would like to be put on the wait list in case a spot opens up, please contact nina@theeducationhub.org.nz.
A recording of this webinar will be posted on this page after the session.
