The report is a response to the somewhat contested place knowledge currently holds in schools and education.
It explores the various conceptualisations and roles of knowledge in education through a series of eight short chapters written by guest contributors on topics including: philosophical approaches to knowledge; knowledge and the curriculum; knowledge in early childhood education; Māori knowledge in education; and open knowledge.
