COMING UP:

Date and time to be confirmed

Professor Jal Mehta (Harvard University) will discuss what he means by the term deeper learning, why it is important, and what it can look like in different school contexts. He will also discuss what we can learn from the types of learning activities where young people experience deeper learning and how the grammar of school must change in order to provide rich, engaging and purposeful learning for all young people. Jal Mehta is a professor at the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University, where his research interest is in understanding what it would take to create high-quality schooling at scale, with a particular interest in the professionalisation of teaching. Along with Sarah Fine, he co-authored In Search of Deeper Learning: The Quest to Remake the American High School, and won the 2020 Grawemeyer Award in Education for ideas set forth in the book.
