COMING UP:
Webinar with Bronwyn Wood
7.30pm (NZST) Thursday November 7, 2024
This webinar will explore the purpose of social studies education to establish why and how it should be taught at primary and secondary school. Associate Professor Bronwyn Wood will return to one of the most well-established strategies for teaching social studies since the 1960s – concept-led teaching – and explain how to embed this in your units and teaching as well as how to deepen as students’ progress through school. Using contemporary social issues, she will illustrate some effective ways to liven up your social studies teaching and learning with ideas that will be weather-tight for the future.
Bronwyn Wood is an Associate Professor at Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University of Wellington. She has a background in social science education (geography and social studies) and textbook, curriculum and resource development in this area. She researches and teaches in the fields of education policy, citizenship education, youth sociology, youth politics and geographies.
A recording of this webinar will be available after the session.
