What do you need?

Matching technology to your learning objectives when teaching remotely

When designing online learning for students to complete at home, it’s important to select the right technological solution for what you are trying to achieve. Some of the pedagogical approaches you would use in a face-to-face classroom may not translate so well to an online context or might need to be adjusted. Below, John Etty from Auckland Grammar School has developed a table to help teachers match technology to their learning objectives.

Essential questions to ask:

  1. What is your learning objective?
  2. How would you normally achieve this in the classroom?
  3. How can you achieve your learning objective using technology?
