COMING UP:

Webinar with Dr Christine Braid

7.30pm (NZST) Thursday April 3, 2025

Engaging with a wide range of rich texts supports the development of students’ literacy, vocabulary, and general knowledge, as well as being an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

In this webinar, Dr Christine Braid of Massey University will talk about a range of books that students of all ages can read independently, as well as great books for teachers to read aloud. She will also explore some of the pedagogical practices that support effective engagement with and enjoyment of a range of books throughout the primary school years.

Christine is one of the foremost literacy educators and advocates in Aotearoa New Zealand. She has a background as a primary school teacher and literacy facilitator, and more recently as an educational researcher in the area of literacy. She was part of the Massey University Early Literacy Research Project and lead facilitator on the Ministry of Education contract for teacher training in TEPiL. She has collaborated extensively with The Education Hub, and led the work to produce our early literacy resources.

A recording of the live webinar will be available afterwards.
