We too have had a struggle with fostering face to face parent relationships as covid has restricted this deeply. We do try and communicate essential information at pick up and drop off times but time within the centre is limited to parents as we try and protect everyone from covid spread. A recent internal review about communication with parents prompted a survey which had a great outcome and showed that what we are able to do…we are doing well.
Relationships are the key to all we do to promote quality outcomes for children and we are working together to find other ways to communicate.
We have other avenues of parent communication in place. One of the most important is storypark. Using storypark we are able to have conversations, share information, share learning strories and collaborate with each other and parents to plan for their children’s learning. We also use children’s daily diaries which offer a chance to share information about meals, nappy changes and sleep times etc.
We look forward to finally being able to offer parents the chance to spend more time in the centre at whanau events etc, where can better get to now them and they, their children’s learning community.
